Dreams need direction. We help aspiring doctors and researchers — especially those from underserved communities — gain the mentorship, knowledge, and support needed to pursue careers that advance health and transform lives.
THE PROGRAM
Mentorship, workshops, partner placements, and clear information. We keep a record of what works.
Every student is paired with a medical student, physician, or scientist a few steps ahead of them.
A plan covering what to study, which schools and programs to target, how GEMP works, and how to prepare for interviews and deadlines, including routes outside Ghana.
Guides, cohort workshops, funding information, and placements with our partner institutions.
We track where each student starts, what they take part in, and where they get to.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Step 1
A short application asks about your background, your goals, and your consent.
Step 2
You join a cohort and are paired with a mentor. When you are ready, we match you to a placement with one of our partner institutions.
Step 3
You attend workshops, work through the curriculum and resources, and take part in placements as they open for your cohort.
Step 4
You choose your next step with guidance behind you: medical school, a research program, or another route.
OUR APPROACH
Our model is adapted from a peer-reviewed program shown to increase medical-school applications among first-generation and low-income students.
We support more than future physicians. Students drawn to research go on to become physician-scientists, biomedical and public-health researchers, and the scientific leaders our health system needs.
We track our results, and each cohort supplies mentors for the next.
